Digi Lab
Filmscape’s digital lab facilities provide mobile and studio based RED Rocket equipped post-production units for all levels of digital production. These units can be used with our in house experienced DITs or dry hired, allowing you to easily handle the higher data rates and processing times of a new generation of digital cinema cameras.
On Set Processing
Our Mobile RED Rocket systems are state of the art portable units that can be quickly carried between locations and used for hours without mains power. This enables quick turnarounds on all RED, Alexa and Epic footage saving you time and money in post.
RED Rocket allows 4K and 5K footage to be transcoded in real time, whereas unequipped machines even of a high spec could take up to ten times longer than this.
This allows our DITs can quickly export huge amounts of data to whichever codec you need, for any digital camera. This buys you valuable extra time between the shoot and the edit to avoid a costly day or two of transcoding.
Where on set transcoding was previously somewhat of a premium alternative to processing at the lab after the shoot, Filmscape will create packages based around your production to ensure that you leave the shoot with all the rushes ready to edit – in the format you need them to be in.
With the lower compression and higher frame rates of the RED Epic, on set transcoding is no longer a luxury – it’s almost a necessity. Without RED Rocket systems a single days shooting could potentially require over 20 hours of processing.
Post Processing
At our studio and lab in West London we can also process your rushes after the shoot, priced competitively by the minute. This can be a cheaper alternative if deadlines are less of an issue or if the footage has been shot without our assistance and needs to be processed quickly.
Most jobs of this nature can be completed within a few hours and all data can be backed up on our RAID systems for as long as necessary.
